Building Code Appeal Board

The Building Code Appeal Board is established under the Local Government Act, Section 693 and has operated since 1973. The Board’s role is to decide on matters of interpretation and application of the British Columbia Building Code when a dispute arises between a party and the local authority that enforces the code.

The Board is comprised of subject matter experts and operates independently from the government in its decision-making capacity. The process for appeals to the Board and its operation is designed to be cost effective, timely and user friendly. Board decisions are final and binding.
