Reinforced concrete high rise apartment buildings with cantilevered exterior balconies one above the other.
Reason for Appeal
Sentence 4.2.1.(5) of the B.C. Plumbing Code requires all roof areas to be drained to the storm drainage system.
Appellant's Position
The appellant maintains that the uppermost balcony should be considered the same as the remainder of the balconies and drain to the integral drip edge, not to a storm drainage system.
Building Official's Position
No comments received.
Appeal Board Decision
The Board does not consider balconies such as these are intended to function as roofs.
