Re: Connection of Water Closets and Relief Vents to Circuit Vented Branch, Wet Vent as a Circuit Vent, Sentences 5.3.1.(2), (3) & (5); Article 5.4.5.; Sentence 5.6.3.(3), B.C. Plumbing Code

Project Description

The project under appeal is the plumbing drainage system in a one storey office building.

Reason for Appeal (revised)

This appeal concerns connecting water closets to a circuit vented system, the location of a relief vent in a circuit vented system containing a nominally horizontal offset and the use of a wet vent as a circuit vent.

Appellant's Position

The appellant contends the following:

Plumbing Official's Position

The plumbing official maintains that water closet arms must be installed as per the requirements for Special Waste Systems as noted in the Appendix A-4.2.1.(4). The plumbing official states that the B.C. Plumbing Code permits a circuit vent to be sized as a wet vent but must be installed in accordance with dry vents as required in the 1985 B.C. Plumbing Code.

Appeal Board Decision #1350

It is the determination of the Board that the three items under appeal in this drainage system do not contravene any specific requirements of the B.C. Plumbing Code.
