Housing Endowment Fund - Program Outline
|
|
The purpose of the Housing Endowment Fund is to encourage new ideas and support innovative housing solutions for British Columbians in need.
Consideration is given to initiatives that:
- are consistent with the objective of the Housing Endowment Fund, i.e. "To encourage new ideas and support innovative solutions that meet the diverse housing needs of British Columbians";
- identify a housing need that is not adequately served through existing programs and services, and a solution that will be effective in helping to alleviate that need;
- are cost effective, sustainable and provide good value for monies expended;
- are reasonable considering the amount of funds available from the Housing Endowment Fund; and
- are sustainable without ongoing operating funding from the Housing Endowment Fund.
The fund supports projects that:
- have the potential to be replicated elsewhere in the Province of B.C.;
- are consistent with Housing Matters BC, the province's housing strategy to help those most in need;
- are environmentally sustainable or "green";
- have results that may be achieved quickly;
- have low risk of delays or cost overruns;
- address the needs of households with low to moderate incomes;
- support other government objectives;
- involve logical partnerships; and
- have significant financial contributions from others, such as local government, government agencies, private and non-profit sectors, and community organizations.
